Are you planning a Gas Fireplace Design?Whether or not you are looking to fit a gas fireplace into an existing home or planning one for a home you are going build, there are a certain number of decisions you will need to make about your gas fireplace design. In fact, whether or not you should choose to have a gas fireplace at all should be one of your main considerations. There are choices between the type of fireplace you should have installed and each has its own benefits, disadvantages and ideal situations. Whether or not you want to really go with a gas fireplace, an electric fireplace, a wood burning fireplace or a mixed fireplace is half of the process itself. Wood burning fireplaces are traditional choices and are perfect for a comforting, warming friendly home with a certain flair and style of its own. These types of fireplaces make excellent centre pieces for a room. If you are looking forward to using a large television set for example, it may be more prudent to avoid two opposing centre pieces in the room and go for a more unobtrusive small gas fireplace. If you are looking for something low maintenance then you should be considering gas or electric fireplaces. These do not require chimney work, coal or wood maintenance or other daily fireplace activities. They do still require annual safety checks and a gas fireplace should always be accompanied by a carbon monoxide detector in the room. If you want a fireplace that is purely for show as a centre piece and you like the look and feel of a wood burning or coal burning fireplace but don’t want the hassle of daily maintenance then an electric fireplace may be the best solution for you. These fireplaces are also ideal if you want to avoid the potential danger of getting soot on the carpet but you still like the idea of watching wood burn in a traditional fireplace setting. You should also consider whether or not you have a ready supply of gas for your home. If your home is currently all electric powered you may need to check before any gas fireplace plans are made if your home can have a supply of gas too. You can get a gas fireplace with natural gas tanks if you do not have a supply to your home, to find out if you do simply call the local gas utility provider to discuss a connection of gas to your home. |
